It depends on the Provence you're after. Lavender blooms from mid-June to mid-July around Valensole and Sault. July and August are peak season on the coast, lively but busy and at their most expensive. May, June and September offer the best balance of warm weather, open restaurants and quieter villages, and autumn is ideal for wine country and hiking.
